Allocating Radar to Track Engines

Introduction

This section covers the process of assigning radar to Track Engines.

Overview

Track Engines are computers that collect tracks data from the radar assigned to them, before sending the data onto the centralised Management Server. For a large system, with many radar, multiple Track Engines are preferable for more efficient data handling.

Assigning the Radar

  1. Under the tab, your available Track Engines should already have been located and displayed. A Track Engine with a healthy connection to the system will be edged in green.

  2. Maximise the window, using the button.

  3. Search for the desired radar in the filter search if a large number of sensors are available. Drag the radar from the Unassigned Radars panel into the Track Engine window. You can drag multiple radar at once be selecting them whilst holding down the Shift key. There will be a x(No.) label underneath the radar graphic as you drag it showing how many radar have been selected.

  4. Once the correct radar are within the Track Engine window, they will initially have a grey circular icon beside them. This means the Track Engine has not as yet connected to the radar.

  5. Once the Track Engine has connected to the radar, the icons will turn a healthy green.

  6. If, however, the connection between the radar and the Track Engine should ever deteriorate, the icons will turn a warning amber, and finally red. An alarm will sound, and you will be notified of this disconnection.

  7. The icon next to the Track Engine title represents the health of both the radar and Track Engine connection. The fill represents the radar health, whilst the outline represents that of the Track Engine.

  8. More information on Track Engines is available on the page.

  9. If at any point you wish to un-assign radar from a Track Engine, press the Unassign All Radars button.

  10. To search through a database of all radar sensors, both unassigned and assigned, use the command Ctrl+Alt+F on the Topology tab to open the Search feature:
