Displaying a Map

Introduction

This section discusses the configuration of the PPI background to display a map with the radar data.

There are two options:

Open Street Map: is a map of the world, and is free to use under an open license.

Google Map: is a web mapping service developed by Google. It offers satellite imagery, aerial photography & street maps.

The options for Google Map are as follows:

  • Default

  • Terrain

  • Altered Roadmap

  • Satellite Only

  • Terrain Only

  • Hybrid

Using Google Map requires an internet connection.

The process of adding a Detection Area can be aided by Displaying a Map, or uploading a Background Image: .

Background Map

This can be accessed via the User Details Screen. There is information regarding the settings in the Background Display here: .

  1. In the User Details window, select the Background Display tab. Enable the Edit button, then select the desired map from the drop down menu.

     

  2. If selecting Google Map there is a drop down menu:

     

  3. Once you have chosen the desired Background Map, select Save to save the Map Setting.
