IFF AIS Plugin

Introduction

This page covers the installation and configuration of the IFF AIS plugin which enables AdvanceGuardĀ® and Sea360Ā® to receive data via your AIS receivers. TheĀ Automatic Identification SystemĀ (AIS) is an automatic tracking system that usesĀ transceiversĀ on ships for locating them.

This plugin enables AdvanceGuardĀ® or Sea360Ā® to display the AIS targets on the map using the appropriate identifier and classification icon. In addition, AdvanceGuardĀ® or Sea360Ā® will correlate incoming AIS target updates with the radar targets allowing known targets to be automatically marked as friendly meaning they will not trigger alarms. The ability to control which AIS targets are treated as friend or foe is configurable and can be based on the unique Id or the classification.

Overview

The IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) AIS Plugin allows the system to receive tracks from AIS devices. The management server seamlessly integrates with the Witness AdvanceGuardĀ® software enabling operators to see friendly targets on the map interface, but more importantly, this data is correlated with the radar tracks enabling the software to match targets detected by the radar with friendly targets reported by the AIS system. This ensures AdvanceGuardĀ® or Sea360Ā® knows which are friendly targets and which are potential threats thus dramatically reducing nuisance alarms. Ā
