Adding a Label

To add a label to the map, ensure you are in Edit mode, then:

  1. Click the Add Label button:

     

  2. A Label dialogue will open:

     

  3. Give the label a name and click the Create button:

     

  4. A label will appear on the map with its given name.

  5. You can move the label around the map using left-click+drag with your mouse. You can also update its available properties whilst it has been chosen for editing.

Properties

Name: Allows you to change the name of the label.

Font Size: This allows you to change the size of the label name when displayed on the map.

Hidden: When this is selected then the label will not be displayed on the map.

Click Save to save the new label.

Editing a Label

Once a label has been created it can be edited.

To do this:

  1. Ensure that you are in edit mode and select the label. To select the label, there are two options.  

  2. The first is simply click on the label on the map.  

  3. The second is to select the label from the object list. Both will perform the same basic task, with the exception that when you select a label from the list, the map will pan to the label in question.

  4. Once selected, the properties list will be displayed and the label will switch to an editable mode.

For example, this label has not been selected for editing:

In Edit mode, you can change the name of the label, alter the font size and decide whether it is hidden.

To alter the location of the label, click on the white point and drag it to a new location.

If you are unhappy with the editing, you can click Cancel and this will undo the changes.

Deleting a Label

  1. To delete a label, ensure you are in Edit mode. Select the label and click the Delete button:

     

  2. A confirmation dialog will be displayed:

     

  3. If Yes is selected, then the label will be deleted. If No is selected then it will not be deleted and you will be returned to the map.

  4. Click Save to save the changes.

Ruler

There is another feature which will label a distance on the map.

To do this:

  1. Click the Ruler button on the Configuration Options:

     

  2. A red line will appear on the map with a distance specified:

     

  3. You can then move the points around the map to suit where you would like to display a distance between one point to the other by clicking on the white spot and dragging it into position:

     

  4. The distance will be automatically updated for you.
