Area Transition Rule

Area Transition Rule

Introduction

This rule checks for a track moving from one area to another within a specified period of time. The key advantage of this rule is that it does not necessarily have to be the same track. It works on the principal that if a track was in Area 1 and then the same or another track is detected in Area 2 within a specified time period, the rule will be considered broken, and an alarm will be raised.

This rule works with different tracks transitioning from Area 1 to Area 2 but keep in mind that this could be the same track that was lost and then reacquired with a new track Id. So this rule is tolerant of intermittent tracking but can still detect the progress of an intruder through a perimeter made up of layered alarm zones.

The Time Frame stipulates how long we keep the output true from the first area check. This effectively means that if a track is detected in the second area within this the time period, then the alarm will be raised. In this example, the Time Frame is set to 26s.

PPI Example

The track must be move from Area 1 (blue) to Area 2 (purple) within the specified Time Frame of 26 seconds, otherwise the alarm will not be triggered.

As the target takes less than 26 seconds to reach Area 2 after leaving Area 1 the alarm is given.
