Quick Setup Guide

Introduction

This section covers the key steps required to get the SafeGuard™ software detecting targets and generating output.

Contents

Quick Setup

Login to SafeGuard™

See Starting SafeGuard™ for details on logging into the software.

Enable the Required Areas

Edit the area settings for the required detection areas and ensure they are enabled. See Area Settings for more information.

Edit the Area Layout

When selecting the Edit Areas button, the radar map will show the radar area with the grid display setting enabled:

To turn off the grid display on the radar image simply toggle the Grid Display setting to Off in the Alarm Panel:

The Alarm Panel also displays the position of the mouse on the UI in X and Y co-ordinates:

Edit the position and shape of the enabled detection areas to ensure you are covering the desired locations. Use the underlying radar data to ensure you have the areas in the correct location. You can change the colour of each area to help you identify their position and purpose. See Configuring Areas for more information.

Set Global Threshold

Edit the threshold to a sensible value greater than zero that will enable you to detect significant targets but ignore other clutter and unwanted objects. A good starting value is 60dB. Once this is complete, SafeGuard™ will start to detect targets that exceed the threshold AND are in your specified detection areas. See Configuration Options for more information.

Adjust Area Threshold

If required, change each area threshold, to decrease sensitivity to filter out additional unwanted objects.

Monitor Alarms

Check the alarm panel on the Edit Areas:

Adam Ethernet Relay Device

SafeGuard™ supports the ADAM 6060 Ethernet relay device. Each area is aligned to one of the six relays, so if area 1 is triggered then this will close relay 0, area 2 will close relay 1 and so on. See the section on adding a relay device.
