2.5 - Fit the new drive assembly - CTS v2

On this page:

  1.

    1. Replace the Ethernet connector, if it was removed for access during the previous stage.

    2. Unpack the replacement drive assembly and check on its underside that the encoder ring (the clear plastic ring with black markings) is undamaged.
Note: Take care not to touch or crush the encoder disc.

    3. Align drive assembly with the mounting posts within the radar chassis (as shown below).

    4. Connect the 6-way encoder cable (A) to the corresponding connector on the main board.

    5. Ensure that the motor and heater cables are routed towards their connectors on the main board and do not become trapped under any of the pillars.

    6. Carefully lower the drive assembly into place.

    7. Connect the 8-way motor cable (B) to its corresponding connector on the main board.

    8. Connect the 4-way heater cable (C) to its corresponding connector on the main board. While doing so, ensure that the motor cable is routed behind the heater cable so that it is kept well away from the rotating parts of the assembly.

    9. Check that the turntable can rotate freely and that all cables are well clear of the moving parts.

    10. Clean any residual Loctite® from the threads of the mounting bolts (M6 x 16mm cap head) that were removed earlier; then re-apply fresh Loctite 243 to threads of each one.

    11. Insert the mounting bolts into the five holes within the drive assembly and use a 5mm hex key to tighten them equally to a torque of 6Nm.
