Introduction

Overview

Detection Areas are how you inform the system of the outer limits of where you wish it to pay particular attention. You can define one or more areas and apply rules to specifically monitor the movement of people or objects within those areas. You can also layer one or more areas to create exclusion zones within the main area. The creation of new Detection Areas is generally achieved in two stages:

  1. Create rough initial outlines for the Detection Area(s).

  2. Use live data to fine tune the area outline according to the viewed tracks and radar background data in order to isolate the area(s) fully from the surrounding land and/or roads.

Creating a Detection Area

  1. Enable the Config Function, then select Areas in the Configuration Tree.

  2. In the Configuration Panel, select New, then select New Area to activate the Create New Area Wizard.

  3. In the Create New Area Wizard, select 'Detection' from the Type dropdown list. Configure the rest of the options, and select Finish.

  4. Use Standard Creating and Editing to edit the shape and orientation of the Partial Exclusion Area.

  5. Select Save.

  6. Next, select the site in the Configuration Tree, then select Radar Detection Area Setup in the Configuration Panel.

  7. The Radar Detection Area Setup window will open. Choose a Tracking Parameter to apply to your Detection Area from the drop down list, then select Finish.

  8. Your Detection Area is now assigned to a Tracking Parameter. Tracking Parameters determine how the radar data that has been interpreted by the tracker is used to produce valid information about targets. Learn more about Tracking Parameters here.

Learn how to manually assign Tracking Parameters on the Detection Areas page.
