Introduction

These are the primary global settings for the software system. They include policy settings for user security, database retention limits, system profiles and database backup options. Please refer to the documentation before making changes because these settings can significantly alter the behaviour of the software,

System Settings

General

Disable System Scheduler: This prevents the scheduler from running which means all scheduled jobs are suspended until this this option is cleared. See Schedules for more information.

Customer Incident Report Logo: This option allows customers to upload their own logo. The file should be no more than 300x200 pixels at 96 dpi resolution. Once saved, the file will be stored in the database and the file name will be displayed in the text box. The new logo will be displayed on the top right of the Incident Report. The logo can also be cleared by the user by clicking the clear icon. Tracks

Track Check Period (ms): How often the system checks for expired tracks.

Maximum Sightings: Maximum number of sightings stored of a single track - after which the system stops recording sightings.

Minimum Debris Sightings: Minimum number of sightings recorded before a track is classed as debris.

Minimum IFF Sightings: Minimum number of IFF (Friend or Foe) sightings definitely recorded as a track before potential culling. Given stationary tracks don't need to be recorded, IFF tracks will be culled when stationary, but the Minimum IFF Sightings ensures they are recorded first.

Last Sightings: Number of sightings guaranteed to be recorded at the end of a track.

Debris (and IFF) Movement Limit (m): Distance of movement below which debris (and IFF tracks) will not be recorded.

Use Radar NTP Time: This is the Network Time Protocol data sent with the tracks from the radar. NTP is a networking protocol for clock synchronisation between computer systems over packet-switched, variable-latency data networks.

Tracker SSH Start Delay (ms): This sets the amount of delay after the Track Engine has connected to the Onboard Tracker, before we connect to the tracker and radar via SSH to check the status and retrieve logs.

Central Tracker Licencing

Enabled: This is where you enable central licensing, documented here: Centralised Tracker Licencing.

Alarm Options

Audible Alarm: Select to have a sound emitted when a system alarm is active.

Silence On All Clients: When disabled, clicking the Silence Alarm button will silence the alarm immediately but only on that client. If enabled, an alarm update is sent to the management server with an alarm silence flag set to true. When the next alarm list is published by the management server and processed, each of the clients will check if the incoming alarm has been silenced, and if so, will silence the alarm.

Custom Threat Sound: The sound clip emitted for a threat alarm (this supports most common sound formats including .mp3 and .wav).

Custom Warning Sound: The sound clip emitted for a warning alarm (this supports most common sound formats including .mp3 and .wav).

Alarm Timeout (s): The length of time before the alarms are cleared after a system or AID alarm has been resolved.

Auto Acknowledge: Select if alarms are automatically acknowledged when they are cleared. If auto-acknowledge is disabled, then the operator is expected to acknowledge all alarm incidences. 

Max Pending Acknowledgements: The maximum number of alarms to keep when waiting for acknowledgement. Older alarms exceeding this value will be auto acknowledged. This option is hidden when Auto Acknowledge is selected.

Require Acknowledge Details: When selected this will force a user into adding a note to acknowledge an alarm. This option is hidden when Auto Acknowledge is selected.

Clear Alarm Minimum Role: The minimum role in the role hierarchy that has permission to clear alarms. Any roles below this in the role hierarchy will not be able to clear alarms.

Warning Area Colour: Select the colour to be flashing in an area when an alarm with a warning severity has been triggered.

Threat Area Colour: Select the colour to be flashing in an area when an alarm with a severity of threat has been triggered.

Save Still From Image Server: The Image Server can save a still image if this setting is enabled.

Acknowledge Options

Alarm Acknowledge Description: This gives the user the option to enable or disable Alarm Acknowledgements for Intruder, Wildlife, Nuisance or Unknown alarms.

Mongo Index Options

System Logs Retention Days: How long system logs are maintained in the database before being deleted. 

Alarm Log Retention Days: How long alarm logs are maintained in the database before being deleted. 

System Profiles

Current Profile Name: The current profile in use.

Current Profile User ID: A user friendly Id that can be used for external control, associated with whomever created the profile.

Password Complexity

Required from Roles: Determines which roles will have a password that applies to this complexity.

The Roles are a hierarchy: 

  1. Administrator

  2. Engineer

  3. User

  4. System

A complex password will be required from not only from the role selected, but all roles above it in the hierarchy too.

Password Length: The minimum length of password required.

Min. Character Types: The minimum number of different character types needed to be in the password. There are four character types: abc, ABC, 123, @&(. If no password is required, both Password Length and Min. Character type values should be entered as '0'.

Archive Settings

Retention Days (days): The number of days a track with changed Analysis Status will be retained before being purged. By changing a track's Analysis Status (see Track Queries), the default purging is interrupted as the track is designated of 'special interest', and a new purge deadline can be set.

SSO Settings (Single Sign-On)

These settings enable Witness to check against an Active Directory / LDAP server for Users and Groups.

Enabled: Select to enable SSO.

Server: There are several options:

Legacy Domain Name

Domain Name

Server Name

Server IP Address

Server Name or IP Address with Port

Container: Can be a Common Name for searching within the directory.

User Name: The User who can look up Users and Groups within the directory.

Password: The password of the User.
