Introduction

This section provides an explanation on how to add, edit and remove radar sensors, as well as a detailed explanation of the configurable settings. The radar and associated tracker are core components of the system so anyone commissioning this system is expected to have a thorough understanding of how to configure and tune these elements.

Overview

Within the Witness application, the radar represents both the radar and the software tracker which together provide the core capability of the system. Once the these components are configured correctly the system will be able to accurately detect, classify and track targets on the designated highways.

Adding new Radar

To add one more new radar to the site configuration, you must use the Witness 4.0 client application, Helvellyn. The system should already setup with a default site configuration before adding radar. This is the default state immediately after completing the software install. To add radar:

  1. Ensure you are on the Config page.

  2. Select the appropriate Radar Group folder into which you want to add the new radar

  3. From the configuration panel (by default on the right hand side of the screen), select New

  4. The new radar wizard will now start:

    1. Layer: Select the display layer onto which you want to create the radar - Layers

    2. Distance Between Radars: This is the default spacing distance between radar used to automatically position the radar when you select more than 1 radar. The first radar (or only radar If creating one) will be positioning in the centre of the current display. The wizard assumes you have started the process with the display approximately in the correct position for the new radar. You can move the position radar once the wizard is complete.

    3. Model: The model of the radar you are adding. All new ClearWay™ installations should be using the CTS-350X.

    4. Radars to Add: The total number of radars to create.

  5. Having completed the required details, select Next.

  6. Edit the connection details for all of the new radar:

    1. Select each radar in turn, select the connection type and appropriate network settings. If you do not know the details at this stage they can be left as they are

    2. Once each radar has been updated, select Finish

  7. The radars will now be created, saved to the configuration and added to the display. Depending on how many have been created this may take a few seconds.

  8. Once complete, each radar can be selected, edited and re-positioned if required. In addition all the advanced options are now available for configuration.
