Milestone is a Video Management System that can store recordings and manage multiple cameras. The Witness Plugin for Milestone enhances the Canary Milestone plugin capabilities and allowing operators to take seamless control of both systems.

With the client plugin, operators can:

  • View Alarm recordings

  • Request playback of alarm recording from Sentinel

  • Display currently active Sentinel alarms 

  • Override camera control

The Witness Milestone Client Plugin

Milestone is a comprehensive VMS system supporting a rich set of video management features. By using the full Witness Milestone integration pack, end users can enjoy the full benefit of both Milestone and Witness Suites of software products.

The Witness Milestone client plugin consists of two assemblies and should be installed together with their plugin definitions file under the XProtext Smart Client MIPPlugins folder.

Milestone Version Requirements

  • Minimum requirement: Milestone XProtect 2016 Professional

  • Version must be 2016 or 2016 R2

  • Edition must be higher than Professional or higher

Installing the Client Plugin

  • Copy the Witness.Milestone.Clientplugin folder with full contents to the Milestone Client MIPPlugins folder for every Milestone Client.

  • You should have a folder with 3 files as below:

Adjust the Client Plugin Setting

  • Log in to Milestone Client to configure settings

  • Click Milestone Options

  • Navigate to Witness Plugin Settings tab

  • Update the settings as required

Video Buffer

This is the number of seconds that a recorded video will play before and after the recorded alarm time

Allow Sentinel Replay

Enables Witness to trigger automatic playback within the Milestone client

Show Current Target Overlay

Enables an overlay on the video feed which displays details of the target being tracked

Show Manual Override Button

Enables the manual override button on each camera control. This is used by the operator to force manual override which prevents Witness from automatically controlling a camera

Open Witness Alarms View on Startup

Enables the Milestone client to display the default, pre-configured Witness View when the application starts
