Introduction

This section covers the Configuration Tree and it's basic settings. The Configuration Tree is a component of the Live tab when the Config Function is enabled. It contains every configurable aspect of the Witness software, separating them into different folders.

By default the configuration tree is automatically filtered so that it only shows items which are displayed on the main map display. When the configuration mode is enabled, the tree is expanded to show all configurable items, including entities such as users and integration plugins.

Contents

Managing Folders

When Witness is first installed it creates a number of default folders including default configuration entities. These system folders cannot be deleted or moved, however new folders can be created under any of the top level system folders. Non-system folders can be deleted however they must be empty.

You can create new entities, such as areas, by selecting the folder you want to store the area in and once in configuration mode, selecting the New button. When creating new entities in a folder, you will only be given the option of entities which are allowed in the selected folder.

Some objects are limited to specific system folders, for example users, however other objects, such as areas, can be created in several different folders. Entities and entire folders, including their contents, can be easily dragged to other folders. However the same rules apply, you will not be allowed to drag items into system folders where they are not supported.

Settings

These are the settings in the Configuration Panel if the master folder of the Entity Tree (e.g. the site, Navtech Demo) is selected:

Basic:

Site Name: The name of the carriageway's position or site. This could be geographic.

Customer Name: Business or personal name associated with the customer/user.

Customer Reference: The reference applied to the customer by Navtech Radar Ltd.

Integrator Name: The name of the integration engineer that aided the site set-up.

Latitude/Longitude: The position reference of the site.

Distribution Settings:

Address: IP Address

Base Port: The starting UDP Port for Radar Data video distribution. Each radar where video data is activated will use a unique port number, starting from Base Port + 1.

Radar Show Limit: How many radars that can show video data concurrently. This is limited to control the bandwidth used at any given time. This is by default 3.

Quality: The quality of the radar data video. The higher the quality, the greater the definition when zooming in. However, higher quality radar data video requires greater network bandwidth.
