Introduction
This page covers the installation and configuration of the IFF AIS plugin which enables AdvanceGuard® and Sea360® to receive data via your AIS receivers. The Automatic Identification System (AIS) is an automatic tracking system that uses transceivers on ships for locating them.
This plugin enables AdvanceGuard® or Sea360® to display the AIS targets on the map using the appropriate identifier and classification icon. In addition, AdvanceGuard® or Sea360® will correlate incoming AIS target updates with the radar targets allowing known targets to be automatically marked as friendly meaning they will not trigger alarms. The ability to control which AIS targets are treated as friend or foe is configurable and can be based on the unique Id or the classification.

The IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) AIS Plugin allows the system to receive tracks from AIS devices. The management server seamlessly integrates with the Witness AdvanceGuard® software enabling operators to see friendly targets on the map interface, but more importantly, this data is correlated with the radar tracks enabling the software to match targets detected by the radar with friendly targets reported by the AIS system. This ensures AdvanceGuard® or Sea360® knows which are friendly targets and which are potential threats thus dramatically reducing nuisance alarms.
