The Auto-Section wizard can be found by:

  1. Under the Config tab, select the carriageway you wish to auto-section.

  2. Go to the Edit button, select, and then open up the Actions drop-down.

  2. Import from File: This will allow you to import section distances from a file. Please refer to
    Section ID: The number ID of the initial section (either at the start or the end of the carriageway), from which the rest will follow on, increasing numerically. By default, this will be 1. e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.

    Section Length: The length you wish all the sections to be configured to. By default, this will be 100m.

    Start from (Start/End): Whether the initial section, from which all other sections shall increase numerically, is at the beginning or the end of the carriageway. By selecting Start, the section IDs will increase numerically from left to right, whereas selecting End means they will increase numerically from right to left.

  3. Select the desired

File

To import section distances from file, a CSV file should be prepared with three data columns. The first should contain the section number (integer), the second the section name (string) and the third column should contain the section distance (decimal).

Experience has shown that when importing from file, and selecting “start from end”, it is better to arrange the section details within the CSV file in order of decreasing section number, in order that the section with the greatest number should adapt its' length to ensure all sections fit the precise length of the drawn carriageway.
