Setting Up the S/A Video

If the user has purchased Scafell Situational Awareness and the Video Licence, then the software will have been installed alongside the Witness ClearWay™ installation. Therefore, the file will be in the same location as the ClearWay™ application.

  1. Find and open the application.

    a. A short cut to Scafell could be made by dragging to file to the desktop. This may be desirable for ease of access, much like the ClearWay™ application. The icon will appear on the desktop like this:

  2. Once the application has opened, the window will be split into two sections: a Radar Panel, and a Video Wall. The Video Wall will show 'No Video'. However, the Radar Panel will have automatically loaded the Radar Groups and radar sensors set-up in the ClearWay™ application.

  3. Click+Drag the radar you wish to video stream from into the Video Wall. One video can be streamed per radar sensor- the video cannot be an accumulation of multiple radars' data. This process is comparable to turning each radar sensor into a CCTV camera.

  4. The Video Wall will now display the Situational Awareness Video stream from the selected radar.

Key and Scale

The format of the key and scale is configured in the  settings. The icons of the different track classifications overlay the radar data.

The direction of the track is indicated by a line extending from the track graphic in the direction of travel:

Wall

Because a video streams only a single radar sensor's data, as with a CCTV camera, if multiple radar make up the network, then multiple video streams are necessary. These can be viewed simultaneously by changing the Wall layout:

  1. Select the desired Video Wall configuration. There are three options: one slot, two slots and four slots.

  2. Click+Drag additional radar to the Video Wall, and place in the spare slots.

The Situational Awareness Video can be navigated and configured using the S/A Video Navigation Tool and Display Settings.

Navigation Directions Keys: toggle to move the display around.

Users should note that these keys move the display, not move the user's view, or  move the user around the display. This means the left and right direction keys may be counter-in

Select to reset the display to its original view.

Save: This saves the current Navigation Tool and Display Settings. Every time Scafell opens, the video display will have maintained this configuration.

Delete: This deletes any saved configuration, and returns the display to default setting.

Pause/Play: Toggle this to pause and play the S/A video.

As the S/A video is live, pausing the display only freezes the screen. There is no delay, or recorded data. Therefore, when play is selected, the display will jump once more to a live recording instead of carrying on seamlessly from the point at which it was paused.

Zoom: Toggle and to zoom in and out of the video display.

Contrast: Toggle and to change the contrast of radar data. The heavier the contrast, the less data visible - only the most concentrated data e.g. tracks will be visible.

Brightness: Toggle and to change radar data opacity.

System Menu ‎☰

The System Menu for Scafell is located at the ‎☰ icon.

It is composed of four options:

Settings: Select to open the Video Client Settings window. This specifies the Tab Limit. By default, the Tab Limit is 8.

Video Config: Select to open the settings for S/A Video Configuration. A complete explanation to these settings is available on the page.

Search: Select to open the the Search function window.

Export: Select to export a .csv file copy of the S/A Video to the desktop or external storage space.

Safety is everything.
