Overlay Image Properties
Name: The name of the overlay image.
Hidden: When this is selected then the image will not be displayed on the map.
Upload Image: Choose an image file to upload onto the map.
Image Scale (pixels per 100 meters): The scale of the image.
Image Opacity: A slider to select how opaque the image appears on the map.
Adding an Overlay Image
To add an image to the map, ensure you are in Edit mode, then:
Click the Add Image button:
An Import Overlay Image dialogue will open:
Enter a suitable name and select an Image File to open Explorer to find and open the image:
Click Create:
The image is displayed on the map. In the example below, I have used an image of the airport :
You can then move the image around the map by hovering your mouse over the red pin and using click + drag:
You can change the opacity (this can aid overlaying the image over the correct spot:
And changing its scale:
You can adjust the scale and opacity to line up with the map as in the example below:
Calculating the Scale by Using the Ruler
Alternatively, if your image has a scale marked upon it, you can match the scale line with the ruler option.
Place the ruler with the same length of the scale over or near the scale:
You can then adjust the Image Scale incrementally so that the lengths are the same:
You can the adjust the ruler so that it matches the scale length:
Once you are happy that the image is to scale and is aligned click Save:
Once saved you can move and zoom in / out on the map - the overlay image will move and scale with the map:
Images are not saved on the map when closing the project. These will need to be reuploaded, and the Add Image button allows the user to reupload an image without needing to set the scale or other properties.
Editing an Overlay Image
To do this:
Select the Overlay Image to be edited and click Edit:
You can then adjust the Entity Properties:
This will allow you to change the name, hide, amend the uploaded image, change its opacity and scale. Once you are happy with the changes click Save.
Delete an Overlay Image
To delete an overlay image, ensure you are in Edit mode. Select the image and click the Delete button:
A confirmation dialog will be displayed with the name of the image:
If Yes is selected, then the image will be deleted. If No is selected then it will not be deleted and you will be returned to the map.
Click Save to save the changes.
