View Live Radar Data - RAS3 Prototype Loan

The Windows application SPxRadarViewLite can be used to view and explore live raw radar data.

Contact industrial.automation@navtechradar.com for the password to extract the files.

Run the included windows batch file LaunchRadarDataViewer.bat to start the application - select the option “Navtech_RAS3_Radar.cpv” to ensure the viewer application is configured with the required parameters to work with the RAS3 radar.

Depending on the local security settings of a customer’s Windows computer, it may be required to specifically trust the batch file included within the downloadable zip package.


All of the configurations supplied establish a connection to a radar at 192.168.0.1 which is the as-shipped configuration of all radars.

Once the IP address and port are correctly set and the application establishes connection with the radar, the “Video and “Turn” indicators will turn green. Shortly afterwards, The main part of the application window will present a live display of raw radar data.

If it is required to connect to a local source of replayed raw radar data, a running instance of SPxRadarView-Lite can be configured to connect to a device’s loopback address, 127.0.0.1, by selecting “Channel-A” from the window’s menu bar, then selecting “Source” and entering 127.0.0.1 within the network address field.

Note that when correctly configured for a RAS3 radar, the window title bar will show this

 

The main part of the application window can be scaled/zoomed using the mouse wheel or by clicking the magnifying glass icons. Clicking with the left mouse/touchpad button and dragging over the raw radar data allows the view to be panned.

The image displayed presents the intensity of radar energy reflected from each point within the radar’s field of view by the image brightness at the corresponding location.
